Mach3 is very popular among the Hobby CNC community.

Artsoft produces Mach3 software and has been around for some time. This software can be used as a fully functional CNC control or used as a CNC simulator for training, learning or testing CNC programs. This is also a great CNC control simulation software that you can install on your own PC computer. There are a couple tweaks to the configuration that you have to do before you can test it like modify the pinout configuration to bypass the emergency alarm that occurs on install, but that is about it.

SDNC RS232 communications software by Surfcam use to be offered for free on there website. Unfortunitly that is not the case anymore. This was one of my favorite free RS232 Programs that I still use today as I still have a copy. However its only available to you if you own a seat of Surfcam. I think this was a great way to promote there software, so if you would like to make the request to them for the free version again it might be worth a try.

This software can have multiople machines all set up with different settings. The layout and self explanitory menus are great for anyone to use.
